I missed out on a Workshop Weekly last week unfortunately, so this will be a double Mick-blog and all focused on the Honda enthusiasts worst enemy, the Bavarian powerhouse that is BMW's 'M' division. We are grounded as Honda specialists but we do lots of work on different cars, full body repsprays are one of our specialities along with major projects, such as what you will see in this blog. German cars are fast becoming the the major enthusiast car of the moment, due to their dirty diesel effectiveness.

We kick off this swish BMW 5-Series. Full epaint in Audi Ibis White, which is loads of work on such a well built car of this size. These german tanks are so complex to work on, any jobs takes twice as long as something like a Honda. There are clips here, there and everywhere and it can really be a paint working with them. The workshop crew put some serious hours into this cars paint. We also got a helping hand from our friends over at Carstyle Vinyl Specialist (around the corner from us in Greenogue) who dropped by to carbon vinyl wrap the roof, grill and ‘M5’ side grills. Full wheel recon in Platinum Silver was alsoneeded along with carbon badges for the wheels. These are the BBS replica style wheels that we have available on request. 30mm Apex lowering springs drop the ride height, they are fantastic quality. Front and rear spacers beef up the car and some new black mesh on rear bumper finishes it off. Finally a full service to BMW specs keeps this tanks heart beating. It was also absolutely freezing when ta
king these pictures, with some snow dropping from the heavens. You can see some flakes on the roof in some pictures.

This weeks project of note is this. A full, bare shell rebuild of the iconic BMW E30 M3, in all ofits left hand drive goodness. This is a literal bare bones restoration, with the  rebuild starting from a media blasted shell and up. This will be one of the finest examples of the M3 to grace the shores of Eire without a doubt. To put some more pressure on the lads, this car needsto beready for our customer Diarmuid's wedding in 2 weeks time. There is still so much to do, but the lads are flat out on the car at the minute.  Fingers crossed they get it finished for the big day.

And back to our mainstay Hondas. This is our latest EM2 Civic sales car. Converted to 1.4 from the awkward 1.7 engine, this has been legally converted so that it can be insured and taxed as a 1.4. Much more economical and efficient to run on a daily basis. And its got my favourite spoiler out there, the Mugen Style upright spoiler. Definitely one of the coolest Honda spoilers available. Instock now for various cars!

Micks Workshop Weekly 10-Feb-13

This week started off with a bang. We put this lovely 1.6 Vtec Sport EP up for sale last Saturday. Edward who was up looking at Civics at a rival shop dropped by to take a look before heading home to Cork. It was all drama for poor Edward as the Focus he was travelling in broke down on the Naas road. Thankfully our Volvo recovery vehicle was on hand to tow the lads back, its good for more than drifting and sticking sofas in apparently!

Aidan the workshop manager stayed for a while after work to try and get the lads car going but to no avail. So the lads where snookered for a while and had to find alternative travel to get home. But they dropped back up the Monday to collect the broken Focus and take the EP at the same time! Good luck with the car Edward. Keep an eye out for more of these EP sales cars, they are the next big thing for people looking for looks and reliability rather than extreme handling and performance.

This is what we had to use to tow poor Edward back to Icetronix HQ. Unfortunately our actual recovery truck was out collecting a customer car at the time.

Long time customer Justin dropped his Evo 7 up for a respray last week and the lads where flat out prepping during the week. When I showed up today they where getting to the long boring process of piecing it all back together like one big metal jigsaw. He went with Honda Starlight Black, a kick ass colour. I’m not sure if it was Justins choice or if maybe Rob had a little bit of influence on his decision.

Steven also got stock of these tiny diecast genuine Honda models, savage little things with unreal detail! Not the cheapest in the world at €30 a pop, but they are genuine Honda so what can you do! NSX's, EF Civics, CRX's available.

Then the big project was rolled out of the workshop. The Supercharged Euro-R Accord is finally finished. It was one hell of a project. It began with a change of pigment, going from Honda Frost White to the revered Honda Championship White. Then the madness began with the bolting on of a Jackson Racing Supercharger. Running a safe low boosted set up, the cars making a fun filled  294.7bhp Flywheel BHP and an amazing 191.8 ftlb of torque. And that’s on LOW boost. It was also done on Coutures Dyno, so hopefully the internet wont be bitching too much. The car also got one of our Brembo brake conversion, so at least it can stop as quickly as it goes. Steven actually had a Supercharged Accord about 4 years ago, it was an absolute blast to drive, he didnt end up keeping it too long though, selling the charger and the car separately.

For more on this car click HERE
Some videos of the Accord coming soon.

Welcome to the new Icetronix website and the new and improved Workshop Weekly Blog.

This is the sight outside Icetronix around 3pm Saturday. Accords are getting some seriously well deserved attention at the moment. The white Accord wagon is Sales Manager Steves personal project. Its got a proper Euro-R engine and box, fully resprayed and has some Lexus IS220 wheels that really work well. I thought they looked a bit dull at first to be honest, but have really grown on me.

The white saloon is a a long time customer who is in getting a championship white respray and a supercharger fitted. Theres a really good contrast between the Pearl White paint on Stevens wagon and the the Championship White on the Supercharged Accord.

Next is Aidan the workshop managers blue Euro-R. He minds it like a baby. Its one of my favourite cars, rumour is going to sell it soon and if I had the money id snap it off him.

The silver Euro-R is a sales car thats getting cleaned up for sale soon, so watch this space!

We do so much for these Accords that they are the perfect for modifications. We do a full Mugen style kit, carbon rear spoilers, wheels, brake upgrades, suspension upgrades, manifolds, exhausts, cams etc.

They are going to be huge over the next 5 years as they come down a little in price. Its a shame that the new Accord never really took off like this model.

If 4 Accords isn't enough for you, two more joined the party. The black Accord was in fora Mugen front bumper and the grey estate at the far end is a good customer of ours who working away on transforming it. One of our sales cars, the red EP Sport sneaked into this photo and I was too lazy to go moving it.
Its a 1.4 car converted to 1.6 Sport VTEC, with a Mugen front and rear lip, Mugen Grill, Type-R plastic sideskirts and Type-R rear spoiler. Its also an original Milano Red car which is a brilliant colour.

This is a Jap EP3 that arrived for breaking. Pretty hard hit to the side, never seen a EP3 3-wheel quite that badly! Some very nice bits came with the car though, Meister coilovers, Anniversary Recaros and a few more bits and pieces. Hopefully the driver walked away, probably a bit shook no doubt

This big delivery of Skunk2 came in this week too, loads of goodies from one of the best Honda Tuning companies around.

And finally this was the scene at the end of the day. The last Accord standing.
In the background is Stevens other project car, an EP with a B16 DOHC Vtec engine. We are looking at developing this conversion as an alternative to the K20 swap, with a lower price.
K-Swaps are great, but the price puts alot of people off, so this could be a huge seller in the he coming year.

I got a little time at lunch to snap a few more pictures of Aidans Euro-R Accord while it was nice and clean. Anyone want to loan me some money?

Audi Driver magazine feature

27 September 2012 16:46

The Icetronix Project Audi was recently featured in the Audi Driver magazine's September issue.
Our 3.0 TDI Quattro A5 got a 6 page feature that we are very proud of. Audi Driver isnt your every day tuner car magazine, its much more Audi brand focused which means getting the Audi featured in such a magazine shows the truly high end work carried out by ourselves.
